How an event moves from Active to Live to Complete

The four event stages, when each change happens, and what you can still do afterwards.

Every event in Freshmint is in one of four stages. Freshmint moves it between the first three on its own, from the start and end times you set.

The stages

Active. The event is published. Its page is live and people can register. An event becomes Active the moment you publish it. There is no draft stage.

Live. The event is happening. It turns Live at its start time, in the event's own timezone, and stays Live until its end time.

Complete. The event has ended. It turns Complete at its end time.

Canceled. A host canceled the event, or Freshmint canceled it automatically (see below).

The automatic cancel

When an event reaches its start time with no attendees and no co-hosts or sponsors at all, Freshmint cancels it instead of turning it Live. One registration, or one co-host or sponsor in any status, is enough to keep the event going.

After an event completes, its page still loads and shows that the event has taken place. Your attendee list, attribution and exports stay available.

Common questions

Can I stop an event from completing? No. It completes at the end time you set. If the event runs late, change the end time before it is reached.

Can I reopen a canceled event? No. Use Duplicate Event to start a copy with the same setup. See Duplicate an event.

My event says Canceled and I did not cancel it. It reached its start time with nobody on it. See the automatic cancel above.
